(AUSA) - ALAMO CHAPTER
The Association of United States Army Alamo Chapter has established a Past Presidents Scholarship program. This program began in the spring of 2006. Once selected, a check in the amount of the scholarship will be sent to the college or university of the recipient verifying their enrollment.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Active duty soldiers stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas who are members of the Association of United States Army Alamo Chapter.
- Dependent of active duty Army soldier stationed at Fort Sam Houston, TX and a member of the Association of United States Army Alamo Chapter.
- Department of Army Civilian assigned to Fort Sam Houston, Texas and a member of the Association of United States Army Alamo Chapter.
- Dependent of Army Civilian assigned to Fort Sam Houston, Texas and a member of the Association of United States Army Alamo Chapter.
- A dependent of an active member of the Association of United States Army Alamo Chapter is eligible to apply.
CRITERIA
All applicants must submit and/or complete the following information:
- A personal essay (500 words of less) explaining why the applicant should receive an AUSA Scholarship (essay should contain examples of academic achievement, community involvement, financial need and personal goals.
- A minimum of three and no more than five letters of recommendations from persons outside your family. Suggested sources for letters of recommendation are: school personnel such as teachers, counselors, administrators, office supervisor, member of a volunteer organization, members of the clergy and a close family friend.
- Furnish a list of personal awards, honors, recognitions, etc.
- Official transcripts from high school and/or previously attended college that include ACT/SAT scores.
- A college or University letter of acceptance.

- Sign and date the application, acknowledging all statements to be true and factual and that you are fully aware of all the rules and requirements of this application.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Applications should be typed. Transcripts including test scores, completed essay and letters of recommendations must be attached.
- All applications must be submitted in hardcopy in an envelope (min 10 X 13). Electronic versions will not be accepted. Application and attachments must NOT be folded.
- Applications are judged on academic achievement, community service/school sponsored extracurricular activities, personal achievement, essay and recommendations. APPLICANTS WILL BE CONSIDERED WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, RANK OF SPONSOR, SEX OR AGE OR FINANCIAL NEED.
- Completed application and all attachments must be postmarked no later than 12:00 PM (NOON) April 11, 2008. The committee will not consider incomplete applications or those received after the deadline. Return the application and attachments to:
