President's Message

The Association of the US Army (AUSA) is an extremely active organization that prides itself in making a difference in the lives and welfare of our greater Army Family. Whether an active or reserve component soldier, retired veteran, department civilian, or family member, the Association continually seeks ways to improve the quality of life for those that have served our nation so faithfully. "Voice of the Army - Support for the Soldier" is our credo.

In a practical sense, the national headquarters is primarily responsible for the first challenge. Being the Voice of the Army requires our Association leadership to maintain a continual dialog with the Army leadership to best determine where we can make the greatest impact. Our extensive educational and lobbying efforts are aimed at appropriate leaders of our nation in both the executive and legislative branches of the government, in order to ensure that our Soldiers are provided the best equipment and training for their task, and that they enjoy the best Soldier programs and quality of life available for them and their families.

The second challenge falls primarily to the local chapters, such as our Alamo Chapter, to execute. Support for the Soldier means that local chapters must actively engage Army unit leaders to seek meaningful ways to improve unit morale and esprit. This work has never been more important than now, during a protracted warfight. Our Army Family needs us now more than ever, and the Alamo Chapter is answering the call. Our highly dedicated membership has supported numerous unit programs and activities, and continues to seek ways to expand our coverage and impact.
