WOUNDED WARRIOR SUPPORT

Through the generous support of some of our Corporate Members and some South Texas ranchers the Alamo Chapter has organized over ten hunting and fishing trips for over forty Warriors in Transition.  The Soldiers have enjoyed hours of enjoyment watching wildlife and have been allowed to take over forty deer and exotic trophies.  Guides accompany all hunters in the deer blinds and point out which animal is to be taken. It is not unusual for a Soldier to see over twenty animals before a decision is made to shoot.  In all cases the ranchers have had the meat processed, and it is then given to the hunter to share with his family and friends. On every trip the Soldiers also enjoy a wonderful meal.
On some hunts the Soldiers are given the opportunity to fish for bass in lakes before the hunting trips.  Under the directions of professional fishing guides they often catch 8-10 bass weighing between two and eight pounds.  It was not unusual for each fisherman to take home seven pounds of bass fillets.  A trip to Kerrville in late February saw four Wounded Warriors catch 41 rainbow trout weighing 1-2 pounds in less than two hours.  All who participated said it was the best fishing experience they had ever enjoyed.  The Alamo Chapter thanks all of the volunteers (especially the ranchers), who made these trips possible.
