What is the Association of the United States Army?

  • A National Organization with 100,000 members that is a non-profit professional educational organization that works to advance the interest of our Soldiers and Families.  It is THE VOICE OF THE ARMY and very active with Congress to improve the lives of our Soldiers.

Alamo Chapter of AUSA:

  • Local chapter of AUSA with over 1000 members who support the Soldiers and Families of Ft Sam Houston in ways that the Army cannot because of appropriated funds. Examples are buying refreshments for ceremonies, awards for individual recognition and scholarships.  See attached list for more of the Alamo Chapter’s accomplishments.

Corporate Members

  • AUSA has close to 5000 corporate members but only 60 are from our city (see attached list).  The benefits of a corporate membership are:
    • Opportunity to demonstrate your patriotic support
    • Support for Wounded Warriors at BAMC
    • Support for Soldiers who are in Iraq and Afghanistan
    • Promote your business with a listing in our News Letter and link on our web site
    • Veterans who want to keep up with Army and Veteran Benefits
    • Invitations to Military Ceremonies
    • BRAC changes at Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis           
    • Quarterly luncheons with senior leaders speaking
    • Increase your knowledge of the Army
    • Army Magazine and AUSA Newspaper         
    • Nice wooded plaque and window sticker

Why should you become a corporate member?

  • YOU want to do your part of supporting the Army and the Soldiers of Ft Sam Houston.
  • YOU want your associates and friends to know you are involved.
  • YOU are very interested in the changes at Fort Sam Houston.
  • YOU are proud of your past experiences with the Army.
  • YOU want to see your company name listed with the other Corporate Members.
  • YOU want to be more involved with Fort Sam Houston activities.
  • YOUR COMPANY does business with the Army, and this is a way you can express your gratitude.
  • YOU want to a part of the 100,000+ members that help to get the Army support (Pay, Housing, Medical Care, Procurement, and Retirement Benefits) from congressional leaders.  Congress listens to numbers.

Corporate Membership only cost $150 and you get to designate two individuals to be members or donate the membership to a Ft Sam Soldier. There is also a 3 year rate at $405 or you can pay more for more designee members.  Be part of Military City USA and join AUSA.

WHAT HAS OUR LOCAL CHAPTER DONE THIS LAST YEAR
Held four general membership meetings with outstanding speakers (MG Weightman, MG Huber, LTG Schoomaker, and CSM Daniel Woods)
Large group of senior commanders, CSMs, NCO and Soldiers of the Year and chapter officers attended AUSA convention
Published and mailed to all 1,100 chapter members four copies of chapter newsletter
Supported the AMEDD Center and School by providing prizes to winners of Captain’s Career Course
Presented scholarships to two High School ROTC cadets and one to a dependent of a chapter member
Supported Wounded Warriors at numerous events to included Fiesta parades and the Army Birthday Ball
Provided wreaths at the National Cemetery for Veteran’s Day, Army Birthday and Memorial Day
Supported the Recruiting Command with commemorative coins for their annual training conference
Maintains a chapter website to provide information about chapter activities and schedule of events at Fort Sam Houston
Donated funds to the Warrior and Family Assistance Center, the Institute of Land Warfare and the new Army Museum
Supported numerous ceremonies and events at Fort Sam Houston with refreshments
Presented commemorative coins and certificates to the winners of unit NCO and Soldiers of the Quarter/Year
The winners of the USARSO and Fort Sam Houston Soldier and NCO of the year are provided banquet tickets for the National AULSA Convention in Washington
Many chapter members volunteered to work at the Army All America football game
Supported the local high school ROTC programs by providing a certificate and Chapter medal to outstanding cadets
