
In the Army, there are two types of coins:
commander coins and unit coins. Higher-level commanders will often have coins
minted, which are presented to soldiers for outstanding performance.
Distinctive unit coins are made for most organizations
in the Army (battalion level and above).
In keeping with this tradition, the AUSA
Alamo Chapter created a coin for the Chapter. As seen above, one side has the
AUSA emblem. The other side displays the Alamo, the symbol of our
chapter.
The coin is presented to outstanding
soldiers, civilians and retirees who are contributors of an Army of excellence.
